ICPC Moves Against Visa Racketeering

It was stated that the ICPC was involved in collaborative efforts with the Embassies of the United States, India, South Africa and France to curb the trend.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission is moving against those involved in the procurement of fake visas for travellers in the country.

A top operative of the commission said the ICPC had arrested over 100 persons involved in the production of fake visas for intending travellers.

It was stated that the ICPC was involved in collaborative efforts with the Embassies of the United States, India, South Africa and France to curb the trend.

The source said the ICPC had got 18 convictions against some of those behind the visa racket believed to have been tarnishing the image of the country abroad.

The source added that the alarming issue of visa scam involved the operators, officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and their counterparts in some of the embassies.
