The Bayelsa APC Working Committee Disowns State Chairman Over Struggle

Yesterday, fifteen members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State disowned the State Chairman, Tiwei Orunimigha, who had reportedly been selected as APC gubernatorial candidate Timipre Sylva’s running mate.

‎The State Working Committee members consists of the State Secretary Marlin Daniel, the State Youth Leader Edison Sorgwe, the Financial Secretary Seiyefa Oruabere, the Organising Secretary Tonye Okio, the Publicity Secretary Fortune Panebi, the Assistant Secretary Alabo Martins, and the Woman Leader Cynthia Boro. These members said the decision by some aggrieved few to claim that the State Chairman as Mr. Sylva’s running mate is misplaced.

In a position paper presented on behalf of the State Secretary by the Youth Leader Edison Sorgwe, the concerned members of the SWC stated that the claims that the State Chairman Tiwei Orunimigha has been selected is wrong, misplaced, and mischievous.

According to Mr. Sorgwe,"the purported communique in circulation ‎is fictitious, as are the signatures of the working committee members. The decision by the flag bearer to choose a running mate is personal and an independent one."

On the decision by Timipre Sylva to choose the technocrat and retired Principal, Wilberforce Titus Igiri, as his running mate Mr. Eris stated that "we are comfortable with the choice of our Party leader, and we consider it robust for the victory of the Party during the December 5 election.”
