The Ethiopian Airlines plane, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, originally departed from Dublin bound for Washington, DC.  However, the plane began to experience technical issues as it began crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

The pilot informed the 300 passengers aboard, that the Dreamliner was experiencing an engine failure in its left engine, and would need to return to Dublin for an emergency landing.  The pilot was able to land at Dublin safely, and the passengers were transferred to a different flight.

This incident is not the first of its kind to affect the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners.  In 2013 several several Dreamliners were recalled due to the detection of battery problems, according to the Africa Report.
