The move appears to be in response to pressure from the Nigerian public.

It will be recalled that last week SaharaReporters reported on the decision of the Supreme Court to delay Mr. Saraki’s trial for false declaration assets.

Many in the Nigerian public found it unacceptable that the details of the National Assembly were kept secret, given that the entirety of the N150 billion budget comes from the Federal Account.

In a statement on Sunday Mr. Saraki’s spokesperson, Bamikole Omishore stated that the release of the budget was intended to combat the “falsehoods” spread by the media.

When speaking to the media Mr. Saraki himself noted that the decision was part of, “the openness we promised”.
