Navy Destroys Illegal Refineries In Bayelsa State

On Wednesday, the Central Naval Command destroyed more than 300 metric tons of illegal Automated Gas Oil petroleum product, also known diesel, stored at local "refineries" in the Akassa region of the Brass Local Council in Bayelsa State.

The raid was led by the Commanding Officer of Forward Operating Base (FOB) FORMOSO, Captain Musa Katagum.  He led a team comprised of personnel from Naval Base BRASS, FOB FORMOSO, and soldiers attached to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company.  The operation left one illegal refinery, 7 surface tanks, and 93 drums of petroleum product, suspected to be AGO, destroyed.

Captain Katagum warned future oil thieves to cease all illegal activity or face the wrath of the law.
