I Am a Biafran

November 21, 2015

Yes, i am a Biafran. My Yoruba origin from Oke Ago Owu in Abeokuta Ogun State ‘’Nigeria’’ shouldn’t be a disqualification for me to solidarise. After all there is citizenship and not indegenship by naturalization as enshrined in the constitution. Yes, i am clearing your doubt already of Yoruba adage ‘’omo alee ni fi owo oosi ju we ile baba ee’’(a bastard describes is father house with a left hand)...I need the owo oosi more than the right hand now. Just to give my brothers a voice not a handshake these time around across the Niger. Having lived in the southeast for quite some times should give me an appreciation on the recent agitation for the dismemberment of ‘’Nigeria’’ by my fellow ‘’Biafrans’’.Yes, i mean my fellow ‘’Biafrans’’. Truth is told in the word of Chima Ubani lead I.C.L (Igbo Conscience Leader) our agitation lacks ideological drive!. I quite agree! Yes, because we were nowhere to be found during the past admistration to complain about the deplorable state of Roads in the Southeast. Especially that one at my backyard Onitsha-Awka Road the road leading to the state capital. I have once jokingly asked a friend if we were to have a high profile visitor visiting Anambra where will we take him through. Npor road i guess towards Abagana down to Amawbia. Shame to us! .I mean to us who has misdirected our agitation. Our ethnicity and religiousness than the pope leads us here. I asked does bad road know religion or ethnic group of plying motorist. Or Death caused as a result of Petrol tankers falling on the road causing mass havoc. Can it differentiate an Okigwe man from Isanlu indigene in Kogi? Or a Hausa Church goer (Mosque) from Saints Augustine parishioner. Yes, biafranism is deeply rooted in my blood and all other region outside our map is a Zoo! Only if i have asked about the bad state of our General hospitals outside those in the state capitals and commercial nerve centres even in my view they still stand in equal capacity with a mere Primary Health centres in Lagos and others outside this bracket are all glorified consulting rooms. No drugs, Doctors arrive by 10am and close by 2pm no weekend duties. Death, sickness and accidents only arise during the week and rest on Sabbath day whichever yours fall into. My gene is Biafra, my life is Biafra the land of the rising sun. If only i have taking time to read about memoirs on civil war at least ‘’bi omode oo batan a baa aroba’’ (When a child do not witness history he we will witness narration) to give you informed decision either to continue to agitate or disembark from this fruitless sojourn. Brig.Gen Godwin Alabi Isama (Rtd) who fought in the main theatre of the war 3MCDO took his time to put something down supporting it with numerous pictures ‘’the tragedy of Victory’’. Our Ogidi (original) Prof from Ogidi town in present day Anambra also has a documented personal History of the then Biafra there was a Country. Other books like because i was involved, my command, the rebel i served and why we struck could also be useful. Mr and Mrs give me Biafra or take my life. Who daily complain about marginalisation, hatred of is ethnic group by other region. Can you please ask yourself this honest question? An hatred Igbo man in your word win a representative seat in Lagos but an Uga man lacks right to be voted for as representative in Ayanmelo or Oyi in the same Anambra talk of seeing an Enugu origin in Abia civil service.Do i even need to talk about the level of accommodation we get outside our region were an enaabling environment is guranteed for our business to thrive. Can my fellow biafrans look inward to find our real enemy. The day an Isuofia man win just a councillorship seat in Enugwu-Ukwu and an Ebonyi State Man not an Ede man becomes the head of Abia State civil service .That will be the day i will declare fully my Biafraness of Yoruba extractios.
