SaharaReporters learned that Mr. Arase is visiting the State to boost morale of his officers, and strengthen relationships between the police and other security agencies deployed for the election.

The spokesperson for the Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, told a SaharaReporters correspondent that Mr. Arase will meet with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the to discuss effective policing ahead of this weekend's poll.

"The Police IG is expected to address officers and men deployed for the election to ensure security during and after the Saturday contest," Mr. Butswat said.

He added that other security agencies will be deploying men and equipment, especially from neighboring States, to bolster security ahead of the election.

A source in the State had suggested to our correspondent that scores of Armoured Personnel Carriers and police vans have been moving into Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, since Sunday.

SaharaReporters also gathered that State residents are apprehensive about this weekend's poll.
