Dear Amosun

December 21, 2015
Dear Amosun 4 years,7 months ago my heart was exceedingly gladdened over your emergence as the 4th Civilian governor of Ogun State due to promises of positive change you campaigned on bringing to the Gateway state of ours. Having sold you personality to Neighbours, friends and students alike, i would tell them 'this government is the long overdue one that may well bring the revolution we craved for'.  Half a decade later,i must admit i am starting to regret  my actions and inactions. Dear Governor, its starting to look like your 'mission to rebuild Ogun' was a mere cooked up line meant to appeal to the gullible with nothing up your sleeves to rebuild. Sir, i want to believe you still have the '5 point Agenda' you aggressively sold to us? If not let me remind you. 1. Affordable and Qualitative Education 2. Efficient Health Care Delivery 3. Agricultural Production and Industrialisation 4. Affordable Housing,Urban Renewal and Infrastructural Development 5. Employment Generation. It bleeds my heart and soul to remind you that much has not been done, while we can forgive you on Education, the rest has not been the real deal you promised, the residents and indigenes i must say have despite your insensitiveness chosen to move on.‎Your said achievement states: Free Education,Stimulation of investment environment,Agriculture,Women Empowerment,Security,Massive Infrastructural Development and Urban renewal "i make bold to say you have achieved less than 20% of the aforementioned; The education you pride yourself is only based on free education for both primary and secondary school. The state owned universities still pay more then #60000naira  yearly and no you did not slash the school fee by 60% as purportedly reported in the media. The reduced tuition fee came as a re-election strategy. ‎Nothing is to be written home about in Health care,Agricultural production, Industrialization, employment generation and the likes. I do not wish to bore you with the woes of Ogun state but permit me to inform you about the deadly stretch of Lagos- Abeokuta highway that takes the lives of omo ogun on recurring basis. Also the Sagamu- Benin expressway is fast becoming a death trap for both indigenes and travellers, what about the Lagos Ibadan expressway which is still in its ever deplorable self despite the said 'Ogun State Ministry of Works Intervention'. Given the above, you might argue these are federal roads but please remember these are also roads plied by Ogun citizens and if you choose to neglect it what of Ijoko,Agoro,Ijako, iyana ilogbo, ilepa,Alade,Oju ore,ilo awela, Elekunmefa,Imise, Onihale, Singer, Lusada,Ewekoro, Atan ota (infact the list is endless) that are suffering from your negligence.  Dear SIA you might want to say it is due to the Nigeria economic downturn but sir 'do we necessarily have to wait for the federal government before any project is embarked upon'.  Based on this i will advise you to be very meticulous in your thoughts when embarking on a project; ‎The Ijebuode and Abeokuta bridges are unneeded. Those money could have been pumped for the electricity in Ibafo- Mowe- Magboro along L/I expressway to ease their suffering or better still the road that connects Lusada- igbesa. For a governor that stated his philosophy is ' a social welfarist, that the rich are obligated to cater for the poor and under-priviledged in the society' much is yet to be seen from you and having rode on Fashola's Lagos miracle, we expect more than just PR blitz from your pressmen and information department "WE NEED CHANGE" let that sink in, REAL CHANGE.   Going forward,it is instructive to say i am not an analyst that states problem without giving solution. The Ogun state govt can use its resources in developing the Obafemi owode axis L/I expressway, this shoul have been the 'Gateway's lekki'. Also the free trade zone in Ado-Odo Ota LG needs to be resuscitated while also not forgetting the promises during the community to community campaign which includes; better education, affordable housing, rural development, employment generation to mention but a few. Another area which you can look into is to reduce Labour abuse in Ogun state,i believe sanctioning companies that refuses labour unions are now too rampant (an example is Infinity Foods Operating in ijebuode). ‎Another is to heavily sanction environmental unfriendly companies that are terminally reducing the numbers of citizens and dwellers of Ogun state like Lafarge and the likes (which will be a gain gain for both the government, the poor and the host communities). Dear Amosun,i want to see a Gateway state that will be compared to Lagos in terms of development and enlightenment just like you once professed that Ogun state will be to Lagos what New jersey is to New york. And Sir if you want to be remembered as a legend like the great Awolowo,Olabisi Onabanjo and more recently Babatunde Fashola and not just another politician that loved his clothes starched and his native cap neatly pressed then you need to up your sleeves, dust your shoes,re-arrange your team and motivate your men.  I dont think i am asking too much,i think its a promise which you uttered loudly yourself. Someone asked me if Ogun State can reach its former height ever again, i answered "HELL YEAH".  LONG LIVE OGUN STATE.   By Olaide GreatEmperor Olaoluwa
