The gang was believed to have operated in the Sangala creek a waterway located in the Ijaw Local Government Area (LGA) in Bayelsa State.

“Operation Pulo Shield” was created in order to curb illicit acts of pipeline vandalism, oil theft, cultism, and kidnapping in the Niger Delta.

According to the spokesman of the command, Colonel Isa Ado, those arrested were Gabriel Abel ,Ebiaredia Godday ,Samoson Ezekiel ,Gift Ehihus, and Richard Christain.

Items recovered from the bandits included four short guns, four cartridges, and 12 mobile handsets.

In addition, Colonel Ado claimed that in 2015  “Operation Pulo Shield” recovered over 50 vessels, destroyed over 100 illegal refinery camps, and arrested 1605 suspects in the Niger Delta area.
