Bayelsa Election Update: Corps Members And INEC Adhoc Staffers Stranded At Distribution Centre

Some of National Youth Corps Members and Ad hoc staffers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are stranded in the election material distribution centre located in the Government Secondary School premises in the Ammassoma community of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.

Security sources claimed they  are stranded due to heavy shooting going on at  Amatolo community in Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa state

It was gathered that armed men suspected to be loyal to Peoples Democratic Party andAll Progressives Congress are engaged in a shootout at the Amatolo community and its surroundings.

A security source said that the delay in moving materials and personnel to the area was caused by the ongoing shoot out between the unidentified gunmen.
 An APC Spokesman Nathan Egba said PDP members are working freely and unleashing attacks on their members.  "The APC agent for Nembe Barrister Doumo Ogbomani and others were attacked by machete-wielding PDP thugs right in the presence of soldiers at the INEC office in Nembe where materials were being distributed. Four APC supporters have been seriously wounded", he claimed

Also, the PDP has accused ex-militant, Eris Paul, also known as 'Gen Ogunbos' of hijacking election materials SOUTHERN IJAW WARD 8 with the help of some security agents.
