Mr. Okowa in the company of his wife, the former Secretary to the State Government Ovuozourie Macaulay, and other top government functionaries dedicated his victory to God.

Mr. Okowa then called on Mr. O'tega and his counterparts to apologise to Deltans for distracting them with legal battles they knew were not justifiable. According to the Governor both Mr. Emerhor and Mr. Ogboru knew they did not win the elections.

Nonetheless, the two politicians decided to take their appeals to the Elections Petition Tribunal, to the Court of Appeal, and then to the Supreme Court, subjecting Deltans to needless frustration.

“It is time to forgive and move on, I also believe that my opponents, Mr. O’tega and Mr. Ogboru, should apologise to all Deltans, because, they knew the people’s choice but, they just wanted to go through this legal process,” he said.
