Ondo State Police Parade Suspected Armed Robbers, Kidnappers And Cultists

Commissioner Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, who briefed journalists in her office, said the suspects had been terrorizing the peace and people of the State.

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Ondo State Command on Tuesday paraded no fewer than twenty suspected criminals who were apprehended for alleged armed robbery, kidnapping and engaging in cultist activities in various part of the State. 

Commissioner Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison, who briefed journalists in her office, said the suspects had been terrorizing the peace and people of the State.

Ms. Ibifuro-Harrison revealed that some of the suspects had been on the Police Command’s watch list after receiving repeated complaints from victims who fell prey to the criminals’ activities.

She disclosed that the officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) apprehended the suspected criminals at their different hideouts within the vicinity of the State.

She added that many of the suspects were arrested after a tip-off from members of the public, which led officers from the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Ondo State Police Command to conduct a thorough investigation.

The commissioner explained that despite security challenges confronting the State, the Command had always been on top of security threats to the lives and properties of residents in the State.

Ms. Ibifuro-Harrison vowed that the suspects would be charged to court to face the law after the police complete their investigation.

SaharaReporters observed that items found in possession of some of the suspects included mobile phones, laptop computer sets, and guns among other ammunition and incriminating materials.

Some of the suspects who spoke to journalists during interrogation confessed to their various crimes, citing unemployment as reasons for most of their unwholesome activities.
