State Tyranny Amidst A Docile Citizenry By Modiu Olaguro

June 18, 2016

Even before the portal was opened, i had vowed not to apply for the N-Power scheme. My decision was hinged on the fact that this scheme, although laudable in its own regard would have made sense had the NYSC been scrapped.

Scrap the outdated NYSC, deploy its staff to the N-Power program, make it voluntary for both graduates and others and we would have avoided a duplication of national volunteering programs.

But in a bid to win political battles, our politicians seek to champion silly populist policies. They know we are hungry, so with N23,000, our thumb should succumb come next poll.

Had the ruling APC not been an ignominious extension of its cancerous predecessor, it would have paused for a moment to ask why a similar program set up by the previous administration died the day the corrupt ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan left office.

A friend of mine has been on this site for the past 36 hours, while he's doing this, the man with the fowl head, Fowler of the FIRS was secretly compensating his girlfriends, boyfriends, party friends, school friends, with juicy positions meant for the generality of the Nigerian people.

Had Nigeria been a nation of sensible youths, this act of apostasy first committed by the inept CBN governor (he secretly hired almost 1000 people), then by the fowl man, would have been sufficient to instigate a regime change.

Go to the cyber cafes to see for yourself. People begin their fast and end it trying to scramble for a manly diminishing job of N23,000 while children of economic parasites sit in the comfort of their homes to receive letters into first rated national institutions.

Let me say this for clarity: The collection of my thoughts are there for all to see. You only need to visit Google to learn that my conscience resides with the collective goodness of man. Not to a politician. Never to a party.

Having said that, I must confess that I'm more of a low-key, calm headed pen user with little skill in protests and crowdsourcing.

Yet, I believe with the litany of secret and clandestine recruitment by government agencies; we should by now have occupied the whole of the country.

These aberrations must not be allowed to stand. Let's occupy this contraption and end this Army Arrangement of injustice and tyranny.

The scramble for bread while the French King cleaned his anus with the cake was a chief player in the French Revolution. Tell me a part of Nigeria where a thing as wretched as Agege Bread is on the table of an average citizen.

Where are the men of the #OccupyNASS and #OccupyNigeria?  What has stopped you guys from mobilizing Nigerians to go occupy the CBN and FIRS?

When Nigerians are tired, they will take their country back.
