Navy Recovers Pirate Vessel, Destroys Illegal Refinery

The Director of Navy Information, Commodore Christian Odogwu Ezekobe, announced that ongoing security operations by the Nigerian Navy has led to the arrest of more pipeline vandals and the seizure of a vessel used by the suspects.

The vessel, the MT Dejikun, was recovered four months after it was reportedly used to hijack the oil tanker MT Maximus.

Mr. Ezekobe also said that navy officers carried out a raid in the Ogbe-Igoh community in Warri, Delta State.

“The Nigerian Navy team destroyed an illegal refinery site and one Cotonou boat containing about 50MT of stolen crude oil and 6 X 15, metal tanks containing illegal refined AGO,” according to Mr. Ezekobe.

He added "no suspect was apprehended as they fled the site before arrival of the Nigerian Navy patrol team."
