CSO Protest In Kano Over Competition Bill

The protesters gathered at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center and marched to the Audu Bako secretariat demonstrating in support of the Competition Bill, which is undergoing second reading at National Assembly.

Hundreds of civil society groups were involved in a demonstration in Kano State on Tuesday over the Competition Bill.

The protesters gathered at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center and marched to the Audu Bako secretariat demonstrating in support of the Competition Bill, which is undergoing second reading at National Assembly.

The demonstrators were received by the House of Assembly Chairman on Information, Honorable Salisu Ibrahim, and supported by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Alhaji Garba Musa, and his Counterpart of Commerce Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye.

Speaking during the demonstration, the leader of the protesting civil society group, Alhaji Rabiu Kura who is also Secretary General of Amalgamated Traders Association of Nigeria (AMATA) said they were at Audu Bako secretariat to seek the support of Kano State government and the State House of Assembly over the bills.
