Armed Robbers Invade Delta State Government House, Kill Driver

Pandemonium broke out Thursday afternoon when armed robbers invaded the Delta State Government House Annex, Warri and killed a driver.

SaharaReporters learned that the driver and some staff of the government house had gone to the bank to make some withdrawals running into several millions of naira for officials of the Delta State Waterways Security who were holding a meeting at the Annex.

According to a Government House source, the armed robbers who ambushed the driver struck immediately the driver drove into the premises of the Government House by the Edjeba Expressway. 

SaharaReporters reliably gathered that he was shot multiple times but that in spite of the bullet wounds, the driver managed to gain entrance into the government house annex successfully with the money. 

He died on the way to the hospital from the multiple gunshot wounds.

An eyewitness told SaharaReporters that immediately after the incident, security guards at the annex pursued the robbers but all efforts to apprehend them failed as they escaped.

Confirming the incident to SaharaReporters, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), “B” Division, Mr. Eyoh Anietie, disclosed that an armed robbery suspect was arrested and being interrogated He added that security forces have spread their efforts throughout the area to see to it that the armed robbers are arrested.
