Mr. President

August 8, 2016

My Dear President,
This letter is not written in a spirit of hate, disrespect, nor is it motivated in any way by ethnical bias and is written with respect due the office and the awesome tasks that have been laid on your shoulders. Mr. President, most of your supporters, including me, never saw you as infallible before rooting for you during the election. We were aware of your humanity and like any mortal; you are capable of making mistakes. What we saw was your integrity and discipline, both attributes that are wanting among Political Elites in Nigeria.

President Muhammed Buhari

President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Mr. President, in my personal assessment of your government, it becomes obvious to me that bulk of your political appointees are either incapable or in desperation to mar your Government, being overshadowed by euphoria of Presidency at the expense of fixing this nation to its rightful place. On 16th February, 2016, we personally wrote a letter with reference NDYM/OND/SFG/001 to the Secretary of the federation, where we raised many salient issues but most importantly that the indigenous people of Niger Delta region should be involved in the selection process of Board members of NDDC if meaningful impacts is to be felt in the region. But to our dismay, the same Secretary to the Federation went to constitute the board in violation of NDDC Act, 2000, and 2001 has amended.

Mr. President, we know as true and honest leader, you always uphold the principle of collective responsibility on behalf of any of your scribe who errs, but great caution is sacrosanct in the face of Nigerian CORRUPT background, that you are trying hard to wash and yet it appears dirtier than you expected.

Sir, we have found not the patience to write you at this crucial time in wake of up rise against the people of the Oil producing area of Ondo State. We quickly want to bring to your notice the evil plots by some elements in the state working with saboteurs in your Government to deprive the good People of the oil communities of their inheritance;

First, is the nomination of Olatokunbo Ajasin as Ondo state representative in the board of NDDC, against the NDDC Act 2000, which states categorically in part 2 Section 2b that “….state commissioners who shall be indigenes of oil producing area”. Olatokunbo Ajasin is from Owo Local Government, there are only two (ILAJE and ESE-ODO LGS) hitherto recognized oil producing local Government in Ondo.

Secondly, on the Nomination of the Principal Executives, the NDDC Act 2000 is clear; it states categorically in Section 12.- (1) There shall be for the Commission, a Managing Director, and two Executive Directors who shall be indigenes of oil producing areas starting with the member states of the Commission with the highest producing quantum of oil and shall rotate amongst member states in the order of producing”. From the available record, the post should be reserved for Ondo State as the fifth oil producing state, since the first four states have had a taste of the MD and the two EDs in the board.  Mr. President Sir, we also want you to question the rational of nominating people for the post of Executive Director Project (EDP) and Executive Director Finance and Admin (EDFA).  Because the three Principal Executive Positions had only be previously occupied by indigenes of states in 4 highest quota of production (AKWA IBOM, DELTA, RIVERS, and BAYELSA) in the last 16 years. Why has the rotation of the any of the ED not gotten to Ondo state? This negates the principle of fairness and this error must be corrected by your administration.

Lastly, there is proposal on the table of Minister in charge of Niger Delta Affairs to relocate Ondo State office outside Igbokoda- the headquarters of Ilaje LGA and the only Town in Oil producing region of Ondo state. We consider this as affront on the peace loving people of oil producing area of Ondo State.

We, therefore seek your urgent and immediate intervention on the matters raised above in the interest of fairness and good governance.

Accept our esteem regard,

Agbejoye Adetoye       Akinjeji Friday A.

Chairman  NDYM       Gen. Secretary  NDYM
