The clash, which took place in a village close to Lake Chad and the Nigerian border, started on Monday when the group was trying to stop residents from praying during the Eid-el Kabir celebration.

Thirty members of Boko Haram and five Nigerien soldiers were killed in a face-off between the group and the soldiers in the southeastern part of the Niger Republic, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has confirmed.

The clash, which took place in a village close to Lake Chad and the Nigerian border, started on Monday when the group was trying to stop residents from praying during the Eid-el Kabir celebration.

NAN reported, “Boko Haram had taken the nearby town of Bosso in early June in an attack that killed 32 soldiers and was the deadliest Boko Haram assault in Niger since April 2015. Since then, Chad has sent troops to help Niger wage a counterattack.”

There were policemen deployed to praying and recreational centers in Nigeria to prevent any attack in these venues. No attack was recorded in Nigeria during the celebration.
