September 15, 2016

A group under the aegis of Reformed Society for Truth and Equity has called upon the residents of the border towns of Seme, Gwaji and Badagry to beware of the antics of some Smugglers who try to incite them against government operatives especially the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The group made the call while reacting to a publication of Sunday Vanguard, 11th, 2016, through its Chairman, Dr. Great Gbenupo. According to him, most people who sponsor these publications are known Smugglers who has no other means of livelihood and are in the good books of the Customs. But anytime they disagree, they will resort to gather the support of innocent villagers to cause trouble which often times leads to loss of lives and properties. " We had been at the forefront of making sure there exists a good working relationship between our people and all the Agencies that operate in this zone and will never condone any situation any of our citizens will be unjustly molested. But we will not equally support unnecessary attack on any officer or officers in the cause of carrying out their legitimate duties", he said. Going down memory lane as far back as 2008 to bring back ugly incidences that has been settled is uncalled for. The most surprising allegations against some officers whose names were mentioned as having killed Mr. Michael were not true. This association carried out intensive investigation and sent delegates to Abuja where we had serious discussions with relevant authorities and we discovered that the accused officer was not even present at the scene. Trouble is an evil wind that blows no one good to anyone, he concluded.
