Police Arrest 3 Housewives In Kano For Attempted Murder

Police are alleging that the women threw the girl into a nearby well, leaving her for dead.

The police in Kano State have arrested three housewives in connection for allegedly attempting to murder a girl in Gayawa village, Ungoggo Local Government Area (LGA) of the State. Police are alleging that the women threw the girl into a nearby well, leaving her for dead.

The police spokesman in the State, DSP Magaji Majiya, confirmed the arrest of the suspects to reporters on Tuesday.

The girl, who spent two days languishing inside the well, was allegedly thrown in the well by her stepmother.

Mr. Majiya said the suspects allegedly committed the offense last week and were apprehended in the village on Sunday following a complaint by the girl’s father.

“We have arrested three women in connection with the case and they are now in our custody assisting us in our investigation”, he said.

Mr. Majiya said the State Commissioner for Police, Rabiu Yusuf, had directed the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for proper Investigation.

He said the commissioner ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to ascertain their individual involvement in the crime.

He added that as soon as investigation was completed the suspects would be charged to court for appropriate offenses.
