September 29, 2016

The former Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumin Jibrin, had his National Assembly office sealed today following his 180 suspension. The seal, which was completed at 3pm this afternoon, was carried out by the NASS Sergeant-at-Arms and security agents.

According to sources speaking to SaharaReporters, the security officials spent almost one hour taking an inventory of items in Mr. Jibrin’s office before sealing with reflective tape.

Mr. Jibrin was suspended following the submission of the report of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges to the House, which was unanimously adopted by its members.

The terms of his suspension excluded him from holding any position of responsibility until the end of the 8th Assembly, implored him to write a letter of apology by the end of his suspension, and no pay for the duration of his punishment.

His supporters vowed to upturn his suspension by seeking a court injunction.
