According to Senator Ali Ndume, there are at least 1000 persons still held in captivity by the terrorist sect.
While praising all parties involved in securing the release of 21 Chibok girls, the Nigerian Senate on Tuesday urged the same parties to ensure that all captives of Boko Haram are released.
According to Senator Ali Ndume, there are at least 1000 persons still held in captivity by the terrorist sect. He emphasized that the government should not overlook the rest of the captives who are not Chibok girls.
“The 219 girls are not the only girls that were abducted,” the senator said. “Their number is not known, but there are more than 1000 of them, I can bet on that. Some of the have gone unnoticed; some of them are missing; some of them, only God knows where they are and in what condition they have found themselves.”
Senator Abiodun Olujimi echoed Mr. Ndume’s statement, saying, “Like [Mr. Ndume] said, there are so many other girls who have gone unnoticed and are still there in Sambisa and elsewhere. We believe that they should not be left to their fate.
“It is not only the Chibok girls that are most important, but all Nigerians that have been captured by Boko Haram,” she concluded.
