Charles Okah's Trial Stalled Again

November 1, 2016

The trial, which was slated for continuation on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, was adjourned due to the inability of the court to sit over the case.

The trial of Charles Okah, alleged mastermind of the October 1, 2010 bomb blast in Abuja, has been adjourned to November 10. The trial, which was slated for continuation on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, was adjourned due to the inability of the court to sit over the case.

According to the court registrar, the matter could not come up as scheduled because the judge handling it was attending a seminar.

Mr. Okah is standing trial before Justice Gabriel Kolawole alongside Obi Nwabueze and other Niger Delta militants for terrorism charges arising from the Independence Day bombing incident in which 12 persons were said to have died.

The case had suffered a series of major setbacks ranging from ill health of the accused, absence of prosecution, and frivolous applications from the prosecution and defense counsels.
