Nigeria Customs Seize 210 Cars In Kano, Jigawa States

Speaking to reporters in Kano State on Monday, the leader of the Task Force, Chief Superintendent of Customs Bala Dole, said his team has also confiscated 97,570 bags of rice and 2,916 cartons of spaghetti since July 2016.

The Nigeria Customs Service Compliance Task Force has, in less than one year, seized 210 cars smuggled into Nigeria through Kano and Jigawa border towns.

Speaking to reporters in Kano State on Monday, the leader of the Task Force, Chief Superintendent of Customs Bala Dole, said his team has also confiscated 97,570 bags of rice and 2,916 cartons of spaghetti since July 2016.

The task force covers about 10 States, he said, noting that the seizure of the cars was however only in between Kano and Jigawa.

Mr. Bala added that other confiscated goods include foreign vegetables oil of 2,770 Cartons, of second hands Cloth 889 belt.

“We have confiscated used school bags, 50 belts, new foreign shoes 110 cartons and mosquitoes coil totaling 956 valued at 269 million Naira”.

“The goods were smuggled into the country through the land borders in the Niger Republic, Cameroon bordering Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.”
