Five worshippers were, on Friday, injured when two female suicide bombers attacked a mosque in Juddumuri Village after the Federal High Court in Maiduguri. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Borno State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Victor Isuku.

"Two female suicide bombers with IED strapped to their bodies attempted to enter a mosque at Juddumuri  Village, after Federal High Court. They were intercepted and prevented by the moslem worshippers. In the process, one of them detonated her vest, killing both of them and injuring five others," Mr. Isuku said in the statement.

The injured victims, he added, were rushed to a specialist hospital, while the bodies of the suicide bombers were evacuated by officials of the Borno State Emergency Management Agency.

Mr. Isuku also explained that the second explosion heard at the scene came from the unexploded IED on the second suicide bomber, which was detonated by the Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team at the scene.
