Shekarau Wants Goje Quizzed Over Cleric’s Assassination Plot

Former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau has urged the Nigeria Police Force to interrogate Senator Danjuma Goje on how he got possession of documents on the alleged assassination of late Sheikh Jaafaru Adam.

“We would be glad if the police could question Senator Goje on how got the document kept over the years as well as make more clarification regarding the source and credibility of the document,” Shekarau, who was also a former presidential aspirant under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party in the 2011 election, said on Friday in Kano through his spokesperson, Ghali Sadiq.

“We are appealing also to the police to make their findings available to the public,” the former education minister also said.

Goje, who was Gombe State governor before his election as Senator in 2015, has lately been engaged in a drama with the Nigerian Police who he accused of carting away vital documents of the country’s 2017 budget after operatives of the force raided his Abuja home last weekend in search of documents linking him to alleged financial offences.

But the police on Thursday denied knowledge of such appropriation document, stating that it recovered only 38 files and six envelopes containing documents and write-ups on “how former Kano State governor, Ibrahim Shekarau plotted the assassination of Sheikh Jaafaru Adam.”

The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said in a statement that N18.056 million, $19,850 and SR9, 400 (Saudi Riyals), and a laptop were also recovered during the raid.
