Nigerian Troops Arrest 5 Vandals For Bombing Agip's Export Pipeline

Troops attached to Operation Delta Safe, an anti-militancy task force, have arrested five men suspected to have been behind attacks on oil facilities. Three of the suspects were said to have detonated dynamites that destroyed an Agip Oil Company facility at the Tebida-Ogboinbiri-Brass pipeline around Imigba community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The other two were arrested for sabotage and theft of oil company's properties.

The arrests were announced at a press conference by Commander, Operation Delta Safe, Rear-Admiral Apochi Suleiman, who was represented by Colonel Danjuma Abdullahi.                                                                           

Speaking at the press conference, which held at the  Operation's Headquarters in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State, Rear-Admiral Suleiman said three of the suspects were arrested at a fishing camp around Isonogbene, following a tip-off. Their names were given as Ayebemi Dressman, Inimotimi Abule and Epemege Frank.

The two other suspects, disclosed the Operation Delta Safe boss, were arrested at Beneside in Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Their names were given as Bibowa Anemi and Ngodiruwa Gomogo. They were arrested for the damage of a Wellhead 6 Actuator device and theft of an Oil Wellhead tool belonging to an international oil company. Their activities resulted in the disruption of the company's operations.The wellhead is currently under repairs.

In a related development, Rear-Admiral  Suleiman revealed that troops deployed to Omuku Forest in Rivers State killed two kidnappers and rescued their victim, who is currently receiving treatment in a medical facility in Port Harcourt.

Troops also raided a suspected pirate’s hideout at Eleme, Rivers State, where they recovered items that included 23 rounds of 7.62mm Ball Special ammunition, one generating set and 40 Horse Power Suzuki speed boat engine.amongst others.

Rear-Admiral Suleiman thanked the general public and the media for their support for  Operation Delta Safe in its bid to protect oil and gas infrastructure, prevent militancy, sea robbery, crude oil theft and other forms of criminality.
