Kidnappers Notify Lagos State Model College, Badagry Of Plans To Abduct Students, Teachers

The kidnappers sent a letter to the school revealing they would kidnap six students and the principals of both the junior and senior secondary schools.

Panic has enveloped parents, students, and the management of Lagos State Model College, Kankon, Badagry following a threat issued by kidnappers stating that they would storm the school. The kidnappers sent a letter to the school revealing they would kidnap six students and the principals of both the junior and senior secondary schools.

In the letter sent to the school, the kidnappers claimed responsibility for the kidnap at Lagos State Model College, Igbonla, Epe and asserted that no form of security put in place would deter them from carrying out their operation.

“Kidnappers are visiting the school the same way we did at Igbonla, Epe. We are going to capture three pupils from senior school and three from junior school. We are kidnapping both principals. We are coming in two days’ time. No security put in place will stop us from gaining entry and fulfilling our mission as stated in this letter. Be expecting us!” the statement read.

However, when contacted, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, affirmed the public that security has been tightened and no kidnap will happen at the school.

“As at when the incident happened at Igbonla, we have beefed up security in the state including model colleges so that there will be no repeat of that incident. We have the area command close to the school (Lagos State Model College, Badagry), and special police in the area,” Mr. Famous-Cole said.

The PRO clearly stated that the police have the matter under control, adding that the Kankon area of Badagry is under surveillance by the police.

“We want to assure students and parents that we are on top of the situation. We have our own intelligence base and we are working on the intelligence sent. We are working and we have that part of the state covered. We are not focusing on the school but on that whole area of the state,” he said.
