The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a suspected Boko Haram member, Mohammad Bashir, in a village in Ifira Akoko, Akoko South East Local Government Area of the state, SaharaReporters has learned.
Police sources told SaharaReporters that officers arrested Mr. Bashir during a stop-and-search on Saturday.

Femi Joseph, spokesman of the police in Ondo State, confirmed the arrest of Mr. Bashir in a telephone interview with SaharaReporters in Akure.
He disclosed that the suspect, a Maiduguri native, confessed that he ran to Ondo State after being chased by the Nigerian Army.
“He was apprehended with charms and some other dangerous weapons in Ifira Akoko during a search conducted by our officers on the road while traveling to escape an arrest from the North,” Mr. Joseph said.
“Upon his interrogation, he confessed to be a member of the dreaded Boko Haram group and a very close servant to their wanted leader, Abubakar Shekau. The suspect also told our investigating officers that he first ran to Nasarawa State but decided to escape from the town when the Nigerian Army came close and made the town too hot for terrorists.”
He revealed that the police would likely parade the suspect on Monday before he is handed over to the Nigerian Army.
The arrest of Mr. Bashir came barely a week after another terrorist, Idris Ibrahim Babawo, was arrested in Isua Akoko. Mr. Babawo was apprehended by a local vigilante group before being handed over to the Nigerian Army.
The suspect, it was gathered, confessed belonging to the Daffo factional group of the Boko Haram terrorist group in Borno State.
