INEC Begins Final Collation Of Anambra State Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the final collation of ballot results for the Saturday Anambra State Governorship election.

The final result would be announced by the Returning Officer, Prof. Zana Akpabio, the current Vice Chancellor of University of Calabar.

Prof. Akapabio would be assisted by the Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Nwachukwu Orji.

The gubernatorial poll was held amidst tight security in the 21 local Government Areas of the state.

Thirty seven political parties took part in the weekend election which was marred with low turnout of voters in many areas visited by our correspondents.

Already, the agents of the main political parties that participated in the weekend governorship election are currently in the main hall awaiting the announcement of the final result.

The Saturday election has been a hot race between the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Willie Obiano, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Tony Nwoye, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oseloka Obaze.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in and around the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along aroma road in Awka, the state capital.
