Ondo Police Arrest Kidnap Gang Leader, Others For Using Military Uniforms To Perpetrate Criminal Acts

Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Ondo State Command has apprehended the leader of a notorious kidnap and robbery gang identified as Sunday Omojuba. Omojuba also known as SMO was in 2016 declared wanted by security agents

for terrorizing travelers and people of the state. He was nabbed with the members of his kidnap gang named as - Godwin Ufoma, Philip Ezekiel, Ayodeji Muyijimi and Adebimpe Nuyujimi.

SaharaReporters learned that they were arrested while blocking the Jowo/Emure Ile on Owo express road in preparation to kidnap travelers on the route. They were all paraded before journalists at the Police Headquarter along Igbatoro road on Wednesday in Akure.

Gbenga Adeyanju, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo state said that Omojuba had been on the watchlist of the security agencies in the state over his "evil acts". Mr. Adeyanju revealed how the notorious kidnap leader and members of his gang had perpetrated series of abduction and robbery cases in the state. He explained that Omojuba was involved in the abduction of Olanike Agbaye who was kidnapped at a gunpoint in the state.

He said that Agbaye was released after his family members paid the ransom of N500,000 to the abductors who were led by notorious Omojuba. "He (Omojuwa) also kidnapped Olatunji  Oluwatimilehin on the  April 17th, 2016 and forced his family to pay the ransom of N100, 000.

"Another victim, Seun Fanegun was also kidnapped by the gang in Okitipupa area of the state and was released after her parents paid the sum of N200,000". The Police boss vowed that the culprits would be charged and arraigned in court after the investigation is concluded.

Dangerous items which included locally made pistols, live cartridges, two mock guns and Army camouflages were all recovered from the arrested gang.
