BREAKING: Kogi Police Commissioner Removed Over Escape Of Suspects Linked To Sen. Dino Melaye

Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has ordered immediate removal of Kogi police Commissioner, Ali Janga, over the escape of some suspects held in Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) cell in Lokoja, the state capital.

The spokesperson for the Police, Jimoh Moshood, said in a statement released on Wednesday afternoon that IGP Idris was not happy over the circumstances surrounding the escape of the suspects.

Idris also ordered the transfer of the Commander of FSARS in Kogi state and other police officers indicted in the escape of the suspects.

“The Commander FSARS in the State, the Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division, Lokoja and other Police officers implicated in the escape for negligence, dereliction of duty and gross misconduct in the escape of the six (6) suspects have also been transferred out of the State and are facing serious disciplinary action. Thirteen (13) other Police officers are currently being detained and investigated for their roles in the escape.”

Mr. Esa Sunday Ogbu, Commissioner of Police, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja has been directed to immediately take over as the new Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Moshood added in the statement. 

The Police spokesperson added that that IGP’s Intelligence Response Team and Special Tactical Squad, Personnel of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department have already arrived in Kogi State to work with the Police personnel to immediately re-arrest the escaped suspects.

It will be recalled that criminal suspects who confessed that Dino Melaye supplied them with guns and money to work as thugs mysteriously escaped from the cell of SARS in early this morning.
