Buhari's Visit To Lagos: Declaring Public Holiday Wasteful, Unnecessary - ADP

Prince Adelaja Adeoye, the spokesperson for Action Democratic Party (ADP) has said the invitation of President Muhammadu Buhari to commission the Ikeja bus terminal by Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode was uncalled for and wasteful.

Prince Adeoye said, “it’s rather low on the part of Governor Ambode to invite the President to commission a ‘mere bus park’ and declaring a public holiday for such is rather wasteful and unnecessary,” while he was speaking with newsmen in Lagos.

The ADP chieftain said the party will take over the rein of power in Lagos in 2019 and invite the then President to commission laudable projects that will have a direct positive impact on the lives of Lagosians and Nigerians at all.

Prince Adeoye also said locking down the state due to a Presidential visit is pathetic and a sign of desperation to promote a party that has lost all of its goodwill.

He said “It is this same APC-led government in Lagos that vilified former President Goodluck Jonathan for doing same during the last dispensation.

It is preposterous to shut down economic activities in the State because of a Presidential visit that will not add value to the lives of residents. The ADP chieftain noted that Lagos should be a shining light for others in terms of leadership and infrastructural development and instead of embarking on the ‘joke’ of commissioning bus stops.

Prince Adeoye, however, also reminded the president of his “past sins” as he noted that it would have been a thing of honour for him if he had not stopped the rail system conceived by the former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande when he violently seized power via a military coup, instead of now being engaged in commissioning of, according to him, a ‘bus park of no consequence.”

He that the ADP would present a candidate more qualified than Ambode to as its gubernatorial candidate for Lagos in the 2019 general election.
