Blankson's Widow Gets Govt Job, Education Fund For Children

Governor Nyesom Wike advised Blankson's widow to invest the money in a scheme that will best benefit the children and guarantee their future.

After much public outcry calling for honours for late Joseph Blankson, who saved 13 lives in a boat mishap in Rivers State, but died in the process, the Rivers State Government has finally yielded with an education endowment fund for the children of late hero.

The State Governor, Nyesom Wike, announced this while receiving Blankson's family at Government House, Port Harcourt.

Wike, who condoled with the bereaved family, also gave immediate employment to the wife of the deceased, Mercy Blankson, a graduate of microbiology and advised her to invest the money in a scheme that will best benefit the children and guarantee their future.

The governor further directed the Executive Chairman of Degema Local Government Council, Tony Philmoore, to collect Mercy Blankson's credentials to perfect the employment offered to her by the government.

Responding, elder brother of Joseph Blankson, Ikronibo Anthony Blankson, thanked the governor for the support and prayed for God's blessings in his life.

Late  Blankson rescued 13 people in a boat mishap at Bakana, Rivers State before he lost his life trying to rescue more people.
