The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it would deploy no fewer than 15,000 ad-hoc staff for the governorship election in Osun State, holding on September 22, 2018.
Olusegun Agbaje, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, who made the disclosure, said INEC would be transparent in its dealings as preparation for the election draws near.
He said that the electoral body had already recruited no fewer than 14,000 out of the more than 15,000 ad-hoc staff that would be engaged for the September 22 governorship election.
He spoke in Osogbo, at a stakeholders meeting with leaders of political parties that would participate in the Osun State governorship poll.

"As we speak, we have sourced over 90 per cent of the ad-hoc staff that would participate in the conduct of the election," he noted.
Agbaje stated that the commission was prepared for a credible and transparent election in the state, adding that there would be no room for compromise during the poll.
According to him, a total of 48 political parties have shown interest and fielded candidates for the governorship election, while about 540,658 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) were still pending with the commission. He advised voters in the state to come for their PVCs.
He revealed that the commission had made efforts to reach out to the electorate in the state to get their PVCs using the media and engaging in various forms of voter education and public enlightenment campaigns.
