However, Namdas, an ally of Bindow, dismissed Mahmood Halilu Ahmed, saying: "We're not rattled at all by his joining the race; winning elections in Adamawa is beyond being the president's in-law.

Honourable Abdul-Razak Namdas, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Media and Publicity, has pitched his tent with Jibrilla Bindow, Governor of Adamawa State, who is seeking re-election.

Mahmood Halilu Ahmed, one of the Adamawa governorship aspirants, also seeking to contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a relative of Aisha Buhari, the wife of the President.

Ahmed's interest in contesting for the governorship seat has been described by political stakeholders as capable of affecting Bindow’s chances of emerging the flag-bearer of the party.

However, Namdas, an ally of Bindow, dismissed Mahmood Halilu Ahmed, saying: "We're not rattled at all by his joining the race; winning elections in Adamawa is beyond being the president's in-law.

“I can assure you Bindow will pick the APC ticket, come what may.”
