The suspects said they stole the corpse to raise funds for a “mega business” and demanded a ransom of N5 million from the victim’s family members.

The Imo State Police Command on Thursday paraded two suspects for allegedly stealing a corpse from O-Jesus Mortuary.

The suspects, indentified as Chukwudi Chukwu, an ex-mortuary attendant, and Bethel Ibe, a commercial bus driver, said they stole the corpse to raise funds for a “mega business” and demanded a ransom of N5 million from the victim’s family members.

They were however arrested days later by the Police inside a forest at Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA).

According to NAN, Ibe accused his friend of luring him into the act.

Chukwu, on the other hand, was recently sacked by the management of the mortuary, therefore he used his experience as an ex- attendant in the morgue to access the corpse.
