Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has said Iyiola Omisore, governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has expressed his willingness to work with Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to see to the latter's victory at the Osun governorship re-run election scheduled for Thursday.

On Sunday, Joseph Afuwape, Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared the Osun State governorship election inconclusive, stating that since the difference between the two leading parties was just 353 votes, but the number of cancelled votes was 3,498, no winner had emerged. Adeleke had polled254,699, while his closest challenger, Isiaka Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had 254,345 votes.

Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) polled 128,049 votes to place a distant third, prompting insinuations that the PDP would have beaten APC hands down had Omisore not left the party for SDP just four months ago.

Fani-Kayode said he had spoken to Omisore — whom he described as his cousin — and said they were working together to "show Tinubu what happens when the Ifes stand together".

A tweet via his handle read: "Iyiola Omisore will not let us down. He is my cousin and I have spoken to him. We are together. We will show Tinubu what happens when the Ifes stand together. We are going to end the APC's reign of tyranny in the rerun on Thursday. @OfficialPDPNig's Demola Adeleke shall prevail."
