Police Arrest Attacker Of NAHCO Staff, As Doctors Carry Out Successful Surgery On Victim

According to the source, the surgery took place in the evening of Monday.

The Nigeria Police, Airport, Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA) Command said it has arrested the suspect who carried out an assault on the staff of the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) Plc last Wednesday at the warehouse of the ground handling company.

This is as the doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba yesterday night carried out a successful surgery on the victim, Mr. Tersuu Orhemba.

the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Airport Command, Mr. Joseph Alabi, told our correspondent on the phone early today that the suspect who was initially said to be at large, Adebayo Idowu, 22, Office Assistant to one of the clearing agents at the airport have been arrested.

It was learnt that the suspect was arrested at about 5pm on Monday and has since been detained at the NAHCO Division Airport Command of Nigeria Police Force.

Besides, a source close to NAHCO confided in our correspondent today that the victim was successfully operated upon at LUTH by medical doctors.

According to the source, the surgery took place in the evening of Monday.

Medical experts had said that the suspect suffered from intra cerebral hemorrhage, a condition, which medical experts claimed may turn fatal if urgent neuro-surgical operation to remove blood stains from his brain is delayed.  

It would be recalled that Sahara Reporters had reported on Monday that Mr. Tersuu Orhemba was violently attacked by Adebayo after a minor disagreement at the warehouse of the handling company. Orhemba was said to be carrying out his lawful duty as at the time the incident occurred.

 It was reported that effort to arrest the assailant was resisted by the management of the ground handling company and some clearing agents staff at the warehouse who assisted the attacker to escape arrest.

Besides, when the case was reported to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), Lagos, the company it was learnt refused to produce the attacker for interrogation by the police command, rather, allegedly aided his escape till date.
