The Federal Executive Council on Thursday presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo approved N52 billion for an e-border solution to monitor the country’s borders.

Announcing the approval, Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau while briefing state house correspondent: "He said the contract will cover 86 border posts and the over 1400 illegal routes being used for smuggling and other cross border crimes".

The approval is coming three years after Dambazau divulged that the e-border system will involve "biometric processing of immigrants at point of entry and establishment of multi-agency situation room" adding that "the e-border system will not negate the spirit of ECOWAS protocol which is for national integration".
