Four Year Tenure, Three Year Holiday

"President Buhari Owe Nigerians An Explanation".

So many Nigerians have been questioning the sudden exit of the President out of the country on a supposedly 'Private Visit' to the United Kingdom, most especially the nonchalant attitude of the Presidency and the minister of information to state explicitly the actual reason(s) for the President's 'August Exit'.

This careless action by the President has made it crystal clear, contrary to his claims, that the President is not a man of integrity as his actions since he resumed office on May 29th 2015 up till this present moment has shown otherwise.

By refusing to hand over to the Vice President, President Buhari has breached Section 145 (1) and (2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) which states that:

"Whenever the President is proceeding on vacation or is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his Office, he shall transmit a written declaration to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives to that effect, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, the Vice-President shall perform the functions of the President as Acting President.

"In the event that the President is unable or fails to transmit the written declaration mentioned in subsection (1) of this section within 21 days, the National Assembly shall, by a resolution made by a simple majority of the vote of each House of the National Assembly, mandate the Vice-President to perform the functions of the office of the President as Acting President until the President transmits a letter to the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives that he is now available to resume his functions as President."

Nevertheless, Nigerians are not averse to the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari might have traveled for medical reasons, we are only infuriated by the obvious con game being played on us by the Presidency as there are rumours that the President actually travelled to the United Kingdom for medical reasons.

Meanwhile, a publication by Sahara Reporters reported that a very close source to the Presidency revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari may extend his stay in the United Kingdom due to medical reasons.

Hitherto, some of us have been worried about the medical condition of the ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in order not have a repeat of what happened during President Umar Musa Yar'adua's tenure in 2009 wherein Nigerians, including the then Vice-President, were kept in the dark concerning the medical condition of the President of the federal republic of Nigeria even up to his death.
