Mikel To Play For Super Eagles At 2019 Africa Cup of Nations 

John Obi Mikel, the former giant English club star has confirmed that he is available to return to Nigeria’s Super Eagles for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, according to a team official.

The Nigerian-Midfielder last played with Super Eagles at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and did not appear in the qualifying for 2019 year’s Nations Cup.

 According to a top team official: “Mikel has met with coach (Gernot) Rohr in England and he has confirmed he will feature at the Nations Cup in Egypt”.

The 32-year-old Obi, current captain for Middlesbrough in the English Championship has appeared 16 times for his current team, scoring a goal. While he was in Chelsea, he appeared 249 times and scored a goal.
He has scored a total of six goals since his full international appearances. 

Experts said his experience and leadership would be invaluable to a squad that includes many players making their debut in this competition after Nigeria missed out on the last two editions. 

The tournament in Egypt is forecasted to be the last for the Obi Mikel in international football.
