Police Nab Six Serial Motorcycle Snatchers In Ondo



A suspected gang of six members who specialize in snatching motorcycles have been arrested by the police in Ondo state following an investigation into their criminal activities. 

The suspects are Sola Tosin, Lamidi Lucky, Ojo Are, Kayode Ademola, Abiola Jamiu and Abudu Oguleye.

They were nabbed after they robbed one Dare Akinjogunla of his "Bajaj Motorcycle" at Ikare junction in Owo, Owo Local Council Area. 

The suspected six serial motorcycle snatchers also engage in armed robbery and are said to attack unsuspecting victims on the the Owo/Ikare road using dangerous weapons.

Undie Adie, Commissioner of Police in Ondo State made the disclosure to journalists shortly after parading the suspects at the headqauters of the Police Command in Akure.

Mr. Adie said the police stormed the main hideout of the suspects after they also attacked and robbed one Shaib Success of Rainbow junction in the same Owo community.

He explained that the six suspects were notorious for robbing owners of motorcycles and cyclists both in Owo, Ose and Akure axis of Ondo.

"Three among the suspects had in April 23, 2019 robbed one Mr. Dare Akinjogule 'M' a commercial motor-cyclist engage by them between the Ikare junction Owo and Ose Area of Oba Akoko. 

"The three suspects stopped the motorcyclist using guns and cutlasses, and robbed him of his Boxer Bajaj Motorcycle after inflicting serious injuries on him with machetes. 

"On same day, the gang proceed to rob one Shaibu Success 'M' of his motorcycle at Amehinti in Owo,Owo Local Government Area of the state.

"The suspects made confessional statement and mentioned on Awo who is at large to be their receiver in Akure" he said. 

The Ondo Police boss added that a motorcycle and some dangerous weapons which was snatched by the suspects from their victim was recovered by the detectives.

He assured that the suspects would be charged and arraigned in court after police must have concluded its investigation into the case.

During interrogation, the ring leader of the gang, Abudu Ogunleye said that they have been operating their criminal activities on the Owo/Ikare and Oba Akoko axis for the past six months. 

He narrated how they attacked their victim, Mr. Akinjoula on Ikare/Owo road after hiring his motorcycle to Ose on a journey. 

"We flagged him down at Ikare/Owo road on our way to Ose axis and he billes us for the transport while we proceed on the journey we planned to snatched the bike from him.

"So, we used our cutlass to attack him (Dare Akinjogula) at the back after he proved stubborn and not wanting to release the bike to us" he said.
