Senator Ali Ndume has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately order the military to completely defeat and wipe out the Boko Haram terrorist group from the country.

Ndume, who is aspiring for the position of the Senate President of the National Assembly, said this while speaking with journalists in Maiduguri yesterday.

He criticized the Presidency for always using words to deceive Nigerians rather than combat the insurgent group while adding that the President should focus on security issues in the country.

“The federal government should leave every other thing for now and concentrate squarely on security. It is very important now for the government to be determined to addressing the issue of security.

“We are tired of hearing Boko Haram attack has been repelled or Boko Haram has been degraded, we want to hear Boko Haram has been completely defeated and the war has ended," Ndume said.

He also urged the President to direct the military to move into the base of the Boko Haram sects.

“The black spots of the war are known; Sambisa Forest; Gwoza and Mandata mountains; and the Lake Chad regions; these are where the insurgents are now concentrated; troops should be massively deployed there,” he said.

Ndume recommended that President Buhari should support the creation of state police adding that it would help in combating insurgency in different parts of the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari while giving his valedictory speech had claimed that the era of Boko Haram has been ended in the country.

“You should be proud to have been part of the Government that liberated the local governments previously under Boko Haram rule,” he said.
