The Nigeria Customs Service has intercepted a Hyundai ambulance conveying cartons of 225 miligrammes of Tramadol.
Muhammad Abba-Kura, the Controller of Apapa Area Command of NCS, stated this while showing the seized vehicle and the drugs to journalists in Lagos.
The officials of the NCS intercepted the drugs while the driver was trying to smuggle them out using the ambulance's siren as a distraction.
According to Abba-Kura, further investigations revealed that the drugs were stolen from a container waiting for examination inside the port.
“It is regrettable to state that while the Nigeria Customs Service is working to free this country of illicit goods, some unpatriotic citizens are not relenting in their desperate urge to sabotage our efforts,” he said.
