An American, identified as Breedlove Shawn, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force for allegedly breaking his car key in the ear of an official of Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Lamidi Falekulo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Billafary Towing Service Limited, said this during stakeholders’ forum organised by the SERVICOM unit of the Federal Airports Authority in Lagos.

The incident happened on Wednesday when officials of the towing service accosted Shawn for parking his vehicle at the restricted area of the airport.

According to Falekulo, the victim was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja, where he was operated on.

“As they were struggling, I didn’t know how he managed to break the key in the worker’s ear. The Airport Police Command detained him and our staff was taken to LASUTH where they operated on him to remove the key,” he said.

The Divisional Police Officer, International Airport, Danjuma Garba, who confirmed the incident, said the man would be charged with assault and “inflicting grievous bodily injury” on his victim.
