NANS threatened to shut down South African business interests in Nigeria by the end of the ultimatum if xenophobic attacks against Nigerians continue.
The students, holding placards with different inscriptions, blocked the access way into a Stanbic IBTC Bank branch in Yola for several hours.
One of the leaders of the protest, Danladi Jonah, said, “We're here to shut down the businesses of MTN, DSTV, Stanbic IBTC Bank and Shoprite, which are South African interests.
“This is in line with the seven-day ultimatum by the President of NANS, who demanded an end to the killing of Nigerians in South Africa.
“We have the capacity to run our economy, we don't need any foreign company for Nigeria to thrive.
“We, the students of Nigeria, would not sit back to watch the killings continue, because our parents contributed their resources to fight apartheid in South Africa.”
