House Of Representatives To Reconvene Over Xenophobic Attacks On Nigerians In South Africa

Graphic pictures of Nigerians being set ablaze while their shops were looted has since sent shockwaves across the country and generated widespread condemnation.

Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that he is cutting short his trip to Tanzania to consider reconvening the lower chamber of the legislature over the killings of Nigerians in South Africa.

In a tweet on Monday, Gbajabiamila, who is attending the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Tanzania said, “Will be cutting short my trip to Tanzania for the 50th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference and will be leaving the leadership of the @HouseNGR to consider cutting short the recess and reconvene for one day to address the killings of Nigerians in South Africa.”
