Five Killed, 10 Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

At least five persons were on Friday burnt to death and 10 others injured in an accident involving a bus at Onigaari end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State, Mr Clement Oladele, made the disclosure in Abeokuta, the capital.

Oladele revealed that the accident occurred at about 8:49am and was caused by loss of control by the bus driver, adding that the crash involved 18 passengers.

He said, “The lone crash involved a commercial bus that travelled all the way from Sokoto State but stopped briefly in Ibadan, Oyo State, to pick passengers.

“The bus with registration number WWD 302 CB, was heading to Lagos before it lost control at Onigaari due to speeding and collided with the road median.”

Oladele said that the injured victims were taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, while the bodies were deposited at the mortuary of the same hospital.
