A federal high court sitting in Lagos has adjourned the further trial of the former Chief Executive Officer of defunct Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, until October 24.

The banker is being tried for alleged N179 billion fraud.

The adjournment announced yesterday followed the absence of the trial judge, Justice Mojisola Olatoregun in court.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had on March 12, 2019, re-arraigned Akingbola.[story_link align="left"]68598[/story_link]

His re-arraignment was consequent upon a further amendment to the charges, which the anti-graft had earlier filed against him in 2009.

Justice Charles Archibong, who first handled the case, had struck out the charges, citing lack of diligent prosecution.
